The Edward Hyde Show: 269 : The surprise

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

--Freddie Mercury, These are the days of our lives.

Episode 269 : The surprise

Which reminds me of a time in Delhi.

It was his birthday. So Edwina and I planned to surprise Papa Hyde when he came home from work.

Mama Hyde was fine with anything as long as we didn't fight!

A couple of balloons by the door, some crepe paper decorations and we were ready.

Both us stood by the door, waiting impatiently for him to open the door so that we could burst the balloons and yell 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY'.

The Ambassador rolled in. We heard him get out of the car and walk towards the house. But the door never opened.

Edwina and I looked at each other- why isn't he opening the door?

'What are you two doing?' we heard a voice ask.

He was standing behind us!

We turned around in shock and gaped. For a few moments, we could not say anything.

'He crept up to the door by the kitchen and let himself in. He suspected you two were up to something' Mama Hyde said laughing.

And Papa Hyde had a very pleased expression on his face, as if to say 'Ha, foiled you two!'
