The Edward Hyde Show: 329 : Generation gap

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

Episode 329 : Generation gap

I love the song Sheila ki jawani. I know the lines by heart and sing at the top of my voice when it is played at my home or that of my neighbours. But I also sing it loudly when it is not played.

I like it a lot!

But the crusty uncle who lives in my apartment block doesn’t like it when I, or any of my friends sing the song. He thinks it is a bad song, and that we should not sing it.

I don’t like him at all. It is a good song, and the words are so easy to say.

My name is Sheila, Sheila ki jawani... I am too sexy for you, main tere haath na aayi... See what I mean?

Is this one of the many signs of a world going wrong that when 3-4 year olds sing Sheila ki jawani, their parents watch on proudly that their children can sing so well? Or am I experiencing the generation gap that I had heard of as a teenager?

But, who am I to complain? I grew up in a generation that sung along to Meri pant bhi sexy.
