The Edward Hyde Show: 72 : The best I never had

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

--Freddie Mercury, These are the days of our lives.

Episode 72 : The best I never had

1995 : The college I wanted to join.

1998 : The university I wanted to join.

But then, I had not done enough to deserve it.

2000 : The company I wanted to join.

I still had not done enough to deserve it.

2006 : The company I wanted to join.

Here? I have no idea what more I should do to deserve it.

And it may take some time to
Patch me up inside
I can't take it so I
Run away and hide
I may find in time that
You were always right

I do not know what else the future holds.

But it's not so bad
You are only the best I never had
You don't need me back
You are just the best I never had

but still, it wasnt so bad was it? atleast for me ... in the end even w/o all the things i wanted in that sense (school/college/profession/company) it turned out not too bad :)

its like coming home to eat. sometimes u wanna eat something and u ask for it and ur mom makes it and u love it. sometimes she just makes something she wants u to have and gives u that, but its not so bad, is it

    dunno re - kya pata!

maybe it can still be called a bargain!

Yeah, some of us (including yours truly) always have to make do with the second-best. But think of it this way - if you always got what you wanted, life would be so predictable.

    *gasp*

This from the person I trust for any sane advice (yes you can hold this against me anytime!)

Cmon... cheer up kiddo! Besides from your point of view, things could never get worse.... they just have to get better... What matters is not what others think... they can go jump... U know how important you are to some clueless ppl!

    *muah*

Well Pre, things work out in the end. I am thankful for that. It is just that sometimes when you get something after working hard at it, the pleasure cannot be described, can it?

SwB, I just listed the things I very badly wanted to get. The others that I got, took their own sweet time!

Essar, you have a list longer than SwB? Or is it just mine?

8/52, if I got everything I wanted, then yes it will stop being important to me. But I am talking about getting something after I worked for it. Apparently, it wasn't enough. :-)

Well my list is longer than yours - I don't know how long SwB's list is so I can't comment about that. But I really get amazed at people who actually get what they want, you know, the IIT-IIM, Princeton/Kellog. Life's just such simple journey for hem - always on the ascent.

Essar, I sure they will love to tell you stories of how hard they had to work. ;-)

Deez, quota system should exist for the less-privileged people like us. Not for those who get things.

    Q, yeah?
