Episode 231 : "Auf Wiedersehn"
It was the first name in my movies-to-watch list for November.
But a colleague dragged me to watch Fashion and I agreed. Not because I am a big fan of Madhur Bhandarkar (I am most certainly not!) or that I find Priyanka Chopra looking prettier by the day (she does, she does!)...
Only to see how accurate the movie's reviews are, which in turn taught me not to test the accuracy of movie reviews! I had never seen any film more appalling, but Fashion is not today's story.
I was firm that my next movie should be Dasvidaniya. Having seen Bheja Fry, I was sure of seeing a good movie, and no negative reviews meant a good thing.
In spite of knowing the story, I found myself fully engrossed in the movie. Most of the time I store my things-to-do list in my head. And when the going gets tough, I write it down- it usually happens when I go grocery-shopping or the work load at office threatens to become the proverbial straw on a camel's back.
Before I realised it, the movie reached half-way mark. Mostly serious, it had its lighter moments that would make you guffaw one moment and introspect the next.
It was the same with the second half. The movie had paced itself well and not once did I look at my watch to know the time! One scene showed him telling his brother why he likes to spend time looking at a lake, and then moved to the final moments of the movie. It was sudden yet seamless, and I realised we had come to the end of the story.
Later, I felt it is time I put down on paper the things I most want to do instead of just storing them in my head. And work on completing them before my time is due.
The good thing for me is that there is a tick next to a task titled "Bike ride to the mountains".
If you like movies that make you think a little, laugh a little and cry a little, Dasvidaniya is a movie you should see.
Until next time, there are things to do.
