The Edward Hyde Show: 163 : In the house that Hyde builds...

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

--Freddie Mercury, These are the days of our lives.

Episode 163 : In the house that Hyde builds...

Previously...

Place: My room-sized home, Bangalore.
Time: May 2006.

The room is dimly lit, the source of light being two. One, from the door that is left slightly open. And another from the window, partially covered by a curtain, the light streaming through a perforated sheet that keeps outs flies. I sit at the far end of the room, leaning against a wall that separates the hall-and-bedroom and the kitchen area. I stare at the curtain that sways slowly and smile to myself as the new speaker and DVD system croon out songs of Diana Krall and Norah Jones. I only need a person to waltz with.

The place feels complete. It feels like home.

Place: My apartment, Bangalore.
Time: June 2007.

Light streams into the hall, the source being the open windows by the balcony. I sit in the hall, leaning against a wall that separates the hall from the kitchen. I stare at the ceiling as the fan beats cool air on to me. And smile to myself as the laptop and speaker system plays songs of David Gray and Royksopp. I only need a person to waltz with, and this time there is plenty of space...

The home is incomplete, but is on its way to becoming the kind of place I always had in mind.
