Episode 178 : Working from home
I called my manager in the morning to tell him I would be working from home. I thought that way I could catch up on lost sleep and also see how well I can work from home.
I was reasonably focussed on the job and didn't spend all day surfing. I didn't catch up on lost sleep.
But there are a few issues that may hamper working from home when I really have to.
One for bad ergonomics. If I do not invest in a good chair and get an extra long telephone cable, I will have to sit next to the modem, on a mat. My forecast for tomorrow predicts a back ache and a sore rear-end.
Two for air-conditioning. If I switch on the fan, it gets a little too cold for my comfort. And if I don't, it gets a little too warm for my comfort. If I invest in an extra long telephone cable, I can sit by the window and get naturally available air-conditioning for free.
Three for beverages. If I don't get a tea or coffee maker, lethargy will make working difficult. It is climbing my list of priorities and might just beat the television set!
After today's trial run, it looks like I may have to take tomorrow off to rest my aching body. I am imagining how it will sound when I tell my manager that I am taking the day off because I worked from home the previous day!
