The Edward Hyde Show: 179 : Prayers for the living

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

Episode 179 : Prayers for the living

'I don't go to a temple or pray anymore.'

'But you shouldn't say like that!' Mama Hyde exclaimed.

'Oh really? How about that time when I had reconciled to the situation and tried to make the best out of it? I wasn't asking for hope or any kind of assurance. Why was I given hope, and when I took it why did my world have to go topsy-turvy?'

That was in June.

'Let's go to Kemp Fort' she said.

What does she want to buy now, I asked myself. Five minutes later, I understood.

It was a discomforting feeling to follow her as she walked around the premise and stand still while she prayed.

'It is one thing to say you are now an agnostic and will not pray anymore. It is another thing to actually do it.' I told her.

But the next day was Edwina's birthday. So I forced myself to murmur a small prayer.

Because I know my prayer works when I pray for others.

this time, on my first visit to guruvayoor temple in seven years, i was mostly looking at the architecture and the relief sculptures. yes, i did pray... eventually. but the many questions i ask myself are: y do v pray? to change our destinies? what are we destined for? can regular praying and performing pujas change ur fate and alter the course of ur destiny? what the heck is destiny? it is absolute, relative, abstract or real?

i used to think that praying was about infusing an inner strength in u. but that theory is half baked. i'm too confused to carry on with it.
