The Edward Hyde Show: 198 : The one where Murphy does it again

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

Episode 198 : The one where Murphy does it again

'We are planning to ride to Chamundi Hills on Feb 2nd. Interested people can report to the ride captains at...' was how the mail started.

It had been a while since I went on a day-ride and Mysore had always eluded me before. So I signed up.

A few hours later, I got a text message from one of the boys.

'If you are riding to Chamundi Hills, you might as well participate in the Hill Climb race there that day.'

I mulled over it. Races and I do not go well together and seeing the kind of competition in store for me, I was extra hesitant. Then I told myself, the experience counts. So I put my name in for the race.

As it is always been with me, I ended up telling a few people about my intention to race.

The evening before the race day, I went home earlier than usual and had dinner earlier than usual. So that I could get up way earlier than usual, ride to Mysore, get a couple of laps in as practice and be ready for the race.

Before I turned in for the night, I checked my mails. And found one waiting for me.

'Hill Climb race postponed due to President's visit.'

Wow, I thought. Races and I don't get along I suppose. I expected the race to be postponed to the next Saturday- Feb 09th.

It will be held on Feb 16th.

And on the 16th, I have to be in Madras, not Mysore.

Murphy begins the year with one credit to his name.
