The Edward Hyde Show: 281 : Camera No. 3

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

Episode 281 : Camera No. 3

So a Nikon D90 came home last Wednesday.

It has been a long way from my first Kodak and a Fujifilm before landing a Nikon.

I haven't thought of a name for it yet- after names like "Garud" and "The Old Flame" for the motorcycles or "Adelle" for the laptop, I might end up with something as lame as "Cammie" for the camera...!

I used up most of my spare time in understanding the camera and figuring out ways to hold a camera much heavier than a prosumer or a point-and-shoot model. I am sure the Kodak POS will feel like a feather in my hands now...

All through the month, I felt the excitement of finally possessing a DSLR was suppressed. I was convinced the workload is to blame. Or perhaps I wasn't willing to get excited about it and find that I would have to wait for some more time. Such situations are so dampening!

The feeling of suppressed excitement continued even after purchasing the camera. I took it to office after buying it and not once did I think "Wow, I have a DSLR in my bag right now!"

I know it is the photographer not the camera that decides what comes out after once the shutter is pressed. Maybe the gnawing feeling that the camera is too good for me is the real reason why even after a week I do not tremble in excitement.

Another motorcycle trip is due; that's the only way I can find out what I can do with this camera... before taking up a course in photography!

Me being lazy me, will prefer going on motorcycle trips on a self-learning drive. It is more fulfilling that way!
