The Edward Hyde Show: 295 : Getting trapped

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

--Freddie Mercury, These are the days of our lives.

Episode 295 : Getting trapped

33 miners in Chile were rescued after 2 months. Each person had to fight off the strain that comes from being stuck in cramped spaces with little or no hope of being saved.

I had two similar encounters that lasted a few minutes at the most. Once in an elevator that was stuck between two floors. And once in an narrow underground tunnel in Hampi with a crowd wanting to come in, not realising there is a crowd behind me wanting to get out. What saved me in both cases was a thin sliver of light that reassured me of some supply of oxygen.

What could have killed me, is the panic that was slowly building inside me. What if no one knows I am here? What if I run out of air? What if there is a stampede? And in that tunnel in Hampi, a stampede was very likely.

I am glad I never thought of becoming a miner.
