The Edward Hyde Show: 336 : Shape of a heart

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

Episode 336 : Shape of a heart

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

There comes a time in one's life when the past washes over with a bittersweet warmth that is normally reserved for nostalgia. And when it did, it left me surprised. Weren't these the same memories that hurt me, the same emotions that left me bitter?

I suppose that is what they mean when they say time heals all wounds. Whether it has fully healed mine, I do not know. But I do know that I will.

The mind is often torn between wanting to make peace with those memories, incidents and people, and wanting to maintain status quo. And since status quo is always ruled by inertia, status quo stays.

Maybe that is the shape of my heart.

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
