The Edward Hyde Show: 349 : Last man standing

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

Episode 349 : Last man standing

"You finally managed to get someone who agrees with your vegan habits?", I teased the Altruist.

"Yes, she does not have any problem with it", he grinned.

The Altruist and I were classmates from 1989, a fact that was met with astonishment from his American colleagues.

'You two have known each other from a long time ago' one of them exclaimed. When he put it that way, it did seem like a long time.

'So what about you? When are you getting married?' Altruist asked me.

'Next year' I said with a straight face.

'You say that every time!' he retorted.

'Tomorrow never comes, but the next year will' I thought to myself.

After the rites and rituals were over and the photographs were clicked, it was time for me to take leave and start for Bangalore.

As I stepped out of the hall and walked towards my car, I suddenly recalled a conversation I once had with another classmate. On marriage and settling down.

I remembered telling her that I want to be the last man standing.

With the Altruist finally getting married, I became the last man standing.
