The Edward Hyde Show: 365 : Change, change, change

"Sometimes I get to feelin’, I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young, things seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young,
The sun was always shinin’ - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don’t know,
The rest of my life’s been just a show."

--Freddie Mercury, These are the days of our lives.

Episode 365 : Change, change, change

When I look back at the events of the last 12 months, I see changes. Lots of them.

I gave away the much-loved Baleno and got myself a Linea. I was sure I would not buy a new car, but the test drive all changed that. But when I had to hand over the key to the showroom as part of the deal, a part of me lingered with it before asking the salesman to take a photograph of us with the car. He was surprised, when he heard that we had the car for only 2 years but behaved like we had it all our lives. I love the Linea too, but I still get wistful when I see a Baleno on the road. The Linea being Italian and all, gets to be called Balboa. The Baleno was always referred to as 'The Baleno'.

A new car means you got to move to a new apartment. So we did. The reason is actually an excuse to get more space to hide the stuff I hoarded all these years. But the move helped us find a place that is less noisy and less polluted.

Two motorcycle trips in the second half of last year convinced me that it is time I get a new motorcycle and use Garud for city duty. 'Get any motorcycle you want, but you are not selling Garud' was Anna's decree. I love my wife!

After all these years of resisting it, a television finally comes home. No DTH though. The television is only for movies and tv series.I am dreaming about a PS4 though.

And this year, we moved out of a building that was our office for a decade, to a new building that was renovated for the entire business unit. Most of the people who had to move to this new workplace aren't so happy as they have to travel longer, and spend more time in Bangalore's wonderfully slow traffic. When they ask (or demand) how long I took, I mumble '10 minutes, sometimes 5' very apologetically. The new workplace is close to home and now I do not have to take the car or the motorcycle to work. In fact, I can walk to it in under 30 minutes. Maybe the only bad thing about the move is that Balboa gets a holiday for most part of the week, and Garud will probably end up doing most of the driving duty.

What remains to be seen is whether this blog will change, or not.
